Standing advice from a shop that has had to unpick this more than once: write down the exact BIOS revision, the exact embedded controller version and the date before you apply an update.
Firmware updates on these platforms are frequently not reversible. If the update changes behaviour you depended on, knowing precisely what you came from is the difference between a support conversation and a shrug.
This is procedure rather than a measured finding, but it has saved us real time.
